Whether you're preparing for the trip of a lifetime, backpacking with friends, or just on a short vacation, read this budget breakdown to plan for your trip to Vietnam.

17 Days

(November 24-December 10)

4 Cities Stayed in

(Hanoi, Cat Ba, Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City)

6 Cities Visited

(Ninh Binh, Can Tho)

142CAD per day

*Please note all costs are the total for two adults and one baby.

Transportation: 897CAD

Our transportation for our time in Vietnam included the flight from Kyoto to Hanoi, a bus and ferry to and from Cat Ba Island, a flight from Hanoi to Da Lat, and a flight from Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City.

Food & Drinks: 447 CAD

We found food in Vietnam very affordable, we enjoy both sit down local traditional restaurants and more westernized ones as well as night market treats. I highly recommend you try Bahn Mi (we loved egg and avocado) and fresh coconut ice cream.

Accommodations: 534CAD

We primarily stayed in Airbnb's in central areas so we could walk to explore. It was easy to find affordable and clean places with washing machines and kitchens.

Attractions & Activities: 387CAD

We found attractions and activities extremely affordable here, expect to pay 50-100USD for a private car and driver for a full day tour. Our lowest cost activity was feeding crocodiles in the Mekong Delta - about 1CAD each, and our highest cost activity was the all inclusive overnight tour of the Mekong Delta which was 184CAD.

Extras: 387CAD

This includes visas for all three of us (applied in advance online for Canadians), a Non La hat for Kymani, sim cards, and souvenirs like temple pants.

Must See/Do:

  • Hang Mua Peak at sunset

  • Can Tho Floating Market

  • Train Street

  • Drink Egg Coffee

  • Cai Beo Floating Village
