Parc national du Fjord-du-Saguenay

Updated: Sep 27, 2021

We got up early again on Sunday so we could beat the heat on the trail. This trail was a lot shorter but we knew we'd have a lot of elevation again. It was more along the Fjord so we had a lot of great views again.

They have a trail here that isn't open yet but I wished we could have done. It goes up along the cliffs and you have to wear a harness. We could see the start from here and some of the suspension bridges. Maybe I'll come back for it...

The highlight of this trail is the statue of the Virgin Mary overlooking the river. Fred remembered there being a plaque about it and how they built it but there wasn't one there this time. It's interesting seeing all the religious symbols on random trails here.

The trail was pretty muddy and of course I fell and got covered.

Once again, we saw way more people on our way out than we did on the way in. I've always enjoyed getting an early start on the trail and it's a sure way to beat the crowds here.

We went back to the airbnb to get cleaned up before the sunset. Kat and I even squeezed in a roller blade around town.

We went out to a quai we had scoped out earlier in the day to have a bottle of wine while watching the sunset. It was absolutely freezing in the wind down there so we didn't stay long after it set. Once again there was no sign of whales :(

Dinner was another bbq feast followed by some games. If you haven't played Jungle Speed, I highly recommend getting your hands on the game.
