Whether you're preparing for the trip of a lifetime, backpacking with friends, or just on a short vacation, read this budget breakdown to plan for your trip to Malaysia.

4 Days
1 City Stayed in
(Kuala Lumpur
205CAD per day
*Please note all costs are the total for two adults and one baby.
Transportation: 508CAD
Getting around Kuala Lumpur itself was easy and affordable, we found it to be a very walkable city. However, our flights alone were around 400$ to get here from

Food & Drinks: 107CAD
I was pleasantly surprised by the affordability of food in Kuala Lumpur. Being a popular destination and viewed by many as a more economic hub, I was expecting prices to be closer to a western standard. However, we found it quite easy to still get meals for a southeast Asian standard (feeding all of us for less than 10$ a meal) at a restaurant.
Accommodations: 208CAD
We were able to find an airbnb that was very centrally located, it had a kitchen and washing machine which we love. While we didn't do a lot of cooking, it's great to have a fridge for snacks and leftovers.
Attractions & Activities: 0CAD
This might seem like a crazy number to you since we spent 4 days in this city, but the major attractions are free! Obviously you will have to pay to get to them, but the cost of the excursions can be managed quite easily with public transport.

Extras: 3CAD
We did no extra shopping while in Malaysia since it was a short visit. The only souvenir was my keychain!
Must See/Do:
Batu Caves
Thean Hou Temple
Masjid Waliyah
Petronas Towers
