When I was a kid I was super keen on climbing, I remember loving being in the harness and scaling a wall. As I got older, I drifted away from this hobby. I looked into it when I first moved to Halifax but with student loans it wasn’t a hobby I could dive into at the time.
And then a new place opened that had bouldering and a friend convinced me to go. I got hooked pretty fast on this new style of climbing. It’s a shorter wall that you ascend freestyle - no harness. We started going quite often but then life got in the way and I was only able to go a handful of times a year.

I was quite excited when I got here and realized that even though gyms were closed, I could still climb! I was a little apprehensive but they have restricted the capacity quite a bit and masks are required.
I went last Thursday just to test it out and see if I was comfortable and it went great. Thanks to the limited capacity and how they've divided the wall, there is a lot of space and no worry of breaching the 2m.

This wall was quite a bit harder than I was used to in Halifax but it felt good to be active again. I went home quite sore but eager to keep going. I went again this Monday, it was a bit busier but still very easy to respect the space boundaries. I’m hoping that if I go somewhat consistently that I can meet people this way since so much else is limited at this time.
