I had met Audrey, who I went canoeing with, in a Facebook group where a lot of people were interested in getting out and doing things like that. There were so many people interested that I ended up scheduling another get together the 18th. However, I was trying to plan it while exploring Ottawa so it didn't go as well.
I told them I was busy and could book it later, one of the girls offered to handle it all if we just said what we wanted. We voted on 11am so we had time to drive there, and canoeing and SUP as the activities. I suggested we get one canoe and two SUP then, rentals were for 3 hours, then we could share them all. The girl who booked it sent a screen shot and it looked like she had booked the canoe for at 11 and the two SUPs for 2pm when we returned the canoe...
We ended up getting there late, the company had three locations and she didn't know which one she had booked at. She couldn't find a confirmation email either... Turns out she hadn't booked them, she just put them in the cart. This ended up working to our benefit since we could now get enough equipment for all of us.
We got two canoes and set off to do the loop of the lake. There was an abundance of turtles, frogs and herons but also geese. I had hoped we could go for a swim but there were so many geese the water was disgusting.
It didn't take as long to go around the lake as the lady told us it would, she had also told us there were areas we couldn't go into. I'm glad we only had the canoe for the short time we did since there didn't seem to be enough lake to occupy much more time than that.
After canoeing, we popped into the closest town to get a refreshing treat. I had never been to Terrebonne and was pleasantly surprised. It was a cute little historic town and looked to have lots to do. I think I'll try to go back for a day trip to explore the town and historic sites.
