We decided that since the forecast this weekend was so beautiful, (high of 12 and sunny!) that we would go on a longer hike. We picked a 15km one a little over an hour from the city. The recent reviews of it were that you didn't need crampons and it could be done in about 3 hours. We learned that the recent reviews were wrong.

The trail started of nice and pretty, it was refreshing to hear the brooks flowing. However, since it was so warm the snow was really slushy and made walking hard.

The trail wasn't all through the woods, we had some town walks and went along the road a lot. We also went along a lot of private property, including an equestrian school. They had two horses out right along the trail so we stopped to say hello.

Since we went along a lot of private properties we got to scope some houses out which was kind of fun. It's definitely a more wealthy area and we saw some really impressive houses. We also got to see this super cute little cabin.

We also got to see a little porcupine going for a walk, at first we thought he was a beaver. It's hard to tell when they just waddle along. He climbed up into the tree for a little nap, but we took it as a good sign of spring!

We ended up hiking closer to 18km and it took about five hours. We had a great time as it was so beautiful out but it was a little more intensive than we had planned. I was able to hike in a T-shirt which is always a nice change from all the layers of winter hiking.

I quite liked these stairs to nowhere. Maybe there was once a cabin and it was taken down? Seems strange to build the stairs before the cabin...
